First a military veteran hit a Megabucks slot jackpot shortly after Veterans Day, then a woman who was born on Christmas Eve hit Megabucks shortly before Christmas.
Today, a 49-year-old woman who said she dreamed two weeks ago she would win a lot of money did not let the unlucky Friday the 13th superstition stand in the way of fulfilling her dream at a Megabucks machine at the MGM Grand hotel.
The winner, a woman from another country who asked to remain anonymous, hit for $10.2 million. She said she felt that the machine was calling out to her. She said she put just $20 in before lining up the three Megabucks symbols.
In November, Jake Latulip, a 69-year-old retired Marine from Las Vegas, hit a $19.6 million Megabucks jackpot -- sixth largest in the history of the International Game Technology statewide-linked progressive dollar machines -- at the Stardust.
In December, Amy Nishimura, 71, of Hawaii, who was born on Chirstmas Eve, hit an $8.9 million Megabucks jackpot at the Fremont hotel. She too said she had a dream of hitting the jackpot.
Megabucks is paid in 25 annual installments. Winners, however, can choose within 60 days to take a lump sum for a lesser amount.
