Union protest planned at Vegas beer hall

The Nevada Carpenters Union plans to picket in front of the recently opened Hofbrauhaus beer hall today in Las Vegas to protest its use of non-union drywall contractor Pete King Nevada during construction.
The union charged Thursday that the original Hofbrauhaus was the birthplace of the Nazi Party in Munich, Germany, and that Adolf Hitler planned the Nazi movement in the building.
"A symbol of such moral corruption and religious persecution is not welcome in Las Vegas," the Carpenters said in a statement.
Carpenters leaders say they have won the support of the Jewish Defense League and IG BAU, the German Construction Workers Union.
Stefan Gastager, president of HBavaria LLC, owner of the Hofbrauhaus, has said his business isn't the right target of the union's protests because it was the general contractor, R&O Construction, that selected subcontractors.
Gastager couldn't be reached for comment Thursday.
