Trooper hit by car returns to work

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper critically injured three years ago after he was struck by a fleeing suspect's car returned to work this week.
Robert "Bobby" Kintzel is working part time -- four hours per day -- in the highway patrol's public information office, assisting spokeswoman Trooper Angie Wolff. Kintzel will be working in a civilian capacity, Wolff said.
Kintzel was laying metal spikes on U.S. 95 near Flamingo Road to stop a man involved in a high-speed chase with police on April 20, 2001, when the suspect's car hit him. Kintzel, who was 30 years old at the time, suffered brain injuries.
Kintzel is a certified law enforcement instructor and is expected to help train officers, but he is not expected to be patrolling the roads any longer, Wolff said.
