Lecture on China scheduled Wednesday
The Nevada Committee on Foreign Relations is holding its first statewide event of the year Wednesday, with a presentation by Banning Garrett, director of Asia programs for the Atlantic Council of the United States.
Garrett will discuss "China, the United States and the New World Disorder" at 11:30 a.m. at Lawry's The Prime Rib, 4043 Howard Hughes Parkway.
Lunch is $21.17 per person. RSVP 382-0813 or 254-0813.
Before joining the Atlantic Council of the United States, Garrett was a consultant of 20 years to the Defense Department, making 29 trips to China since 1982, and private and nongovernmental organizations on Asia security issues, according to the NCFR.
"Dr. Garrett has developed contacts in northeast Asia through government-sponsored trips to South Korea and Japan and has written extensively on tops concerning regional and functional issues of Central and South Asia," NCFR representatives said.
