The Las Vegas Wranglers' five-game winning streak ended Sunday night in Anchorage when the Alaska Aces salvaged the final game of their three-game ECHL series with a 3-2 victory at Sullivan Arena.

Kimbi Daniels' second-period goal gave the Aces a 3-0 lead and enabled them to withstand goals by Chris Kenady and Greg Day in the third.

The Wranglers (29-14-5) remained second in the Pacific Division. They'll finish their five-game road trip Friday at first-place San Diego before returning home to the Orleans Arena Saturday and Sunday to play the Long Beach Ice Dogs.

Rusedski in hearing

Greg Rusedski arrived in Montreal today for his doping hearing, which could result in a two-year ban. Rusedski tested positive in July.

Singh wins again

Vijay Singh blew away the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He birdied his first three holes to bury co-leader Arron Oberholser and closed with a 69 for a three-shot victory.

U.S. sweeps worlds

Chad Hedrick broke the men's world points record and led the United States to its first 1-2 finish at the World Allround Speedskating Championships in Hamar, Norway. Shani Davis was second. Hedrick became the first American allround champion since Eric Flaim in 1988.

Fitzgerald coming out

Confirming a foregone conclusion, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald said today he will enter the NFL draft and not return to the University of Pittsburgh for his junior season.

La. Tech wants to go

Louisiana Tech wants to leave the Western Athletic Conference and be the school chosen to replace Texas Christian in Conference USA. TCU is leaving to join the Mountain West.

UNLV falls to 0-3

UNLV lost its third consecutive game to open the season, 14-6 to No. 4 Cal State Fullerton.
