The parent company of Nevada's fourth-largest provider of health maintenance organization insurance plans has launched a subsidiary to offer preferred provider plans for small businesses.
Tempe, Ariz.,-based i/mx Cos. created Summerlin Life and Health Insurance Co. to offer an alternative to its subsidiary, NevadaCare Inc., a provider of health maintenance organization insurance.
Summerlin Life offers plans tied to more than 4,000 medical professionals and initially will target companies with less than 500 employees. The company also plans to work with larger employers to offer self-insurance options through its affiliate Health Management Associates Inc., a third-party administrator.
