NDOW creel census clerks said that fishing pressure dropped from the previous week, but those who did fish were successful landing stocked rainbow trout. Shore anglers using PowerBait caught fish that averaged 11 inches.
A few boaters fishing the Boulder Beach area were successful landing small striped bass that ranged from 14-16 inches. Anchovies were the bait of choice.
Saddle Cove continued to be good for shore anglers as they caught a few stripers that averaged 16 inches. The fish were taken with lures that resemble trout. The most success was experienced following the weekly trout plant.
Anglers fishing the Overton Beach area reported good success for small stripers. Boaters fishing near Fish Island and St. Thomas landed fish that ranged from 12-14 inches. Anchovies were catching the fish. The fish were more active at night and early mornings.
A few crappie that averaged 12 inches were also taken in the area behind Fish Island. The fish were caught using grubs.
Hemenway, Horsepower, Pumphouse and North Saddle Coves are scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout today.
A couple of boaters successfully landed nice stripers. One striper weighed in at 36 pounds and measured 39 inches. The other fish was thinner, weighing only 13 pounds and measuring 33 inches.
Willow Beach anglers fishing from shore were successful landing stocked rainbow trout that averaged 11 inches. PowerBait was the bait of choice.
Cottonwood Cove, Placer Cove, Aztec Wash and Willow Beach are scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout today.
Ice around the boat launch areas prevent the use of boats at this time.
A couple of anglers reported limited success with only two fish caught. The fish averaged 10 inches.
Weather conditions brought snow to the area and the nighttime temperatures were below zero. Ice conditions are good throughout the entire reservoir.
The ponds are scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout next Friday.
