Loyalty card will count points for food, show purchases

The One Club loyalty card offered to guests of Mandalay Resort Group's properties nationwide will soon be able to be used to accrue points on the purchase of meals and shows at the resorts.

Glenn Schaeffer, president and chief financial officer of the company, did not give a specific time frame for the start-up of the plan when he discussed it with investment analysts attending financial presentations at the American Gaming Summit in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Several companies have loyalty cards that patrons use when they rent rooms and, most commonly, when they play slot machines. Card owners can win premiums for the amount of play they have and the casino companies use data to track play habits and reward their best customers.

Schaeffer, who emphasized in his presentation that Mandalay is relying more on filling rooms than slot-machine play, said card holders not only would be able to accrue points for their purchases, but use points for rewards at restaurants and shows as well.
