Fishing report: Stripers running the shoreline

A shore angler said stripers have been running the shoreline in the early morning hours along Special Events Beach. He caught a 4-pound striper Friday morning by casting a silver and blue popper lure. Special Events Beach is closed to vehicles from dusk until 6 a.m.
Rainbow trout have been sticking to patches of brush found between Hemenway Fishing Point and Special Events Beach. Stripers are being caught in this half-mile stretch as they pursue the trout.
Large stripers have been appearing following NDOW's rainbow trout plants, but they are only being caught for about two hours.
Boaters continue to have success for stripers in the vicinity of Las Vegas Wash. All of the boaters have been catching fish, although very few have caught limits of 20 stripers during the past week.
NDOW was scheduled to plant trout today at Hemenway, Horsepower, Pumphouse and North Saddle coves.
Anglers who have been fishing at Willow Beach have enjoyed some success for rainbow trout following the weekly plants.
