CARSON CITY -- Three Las Vegas lawyers -- two men and a woman -- have been nominated by the state Commission on Judicial Selection to succeed District Judge Ron Parraguirre, who was elected to the Nevada Supreme Court.
The selection commission narrowed down the list of 17 applicants to Douglas W. Herndon, 40, with the Clark County district attorney's office; Susan H. Johnson, 45, and Timothy C. Williams, 49, both in private law practice.
The commission met Monday and Tuesday in Las Vegas, interviewing the candidates before making their selection that will be forward to Gov. Kenny Guinn. Guinn will make the final selection.
If Guinn does not make a choice in 30 days, he is barred from making any other appointments until he fills the judicial slot.
