Letter: Parents to blame for poor students
Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 | 8:57 a.m.
State Sen. Bob Beers wants to disrupt the whole school district because he feels that teenagers don't perform well early in the morning.
I was always told that high school was supposed to help prepare our children for real life. Should employers also let everyone come to work later because many people are not "morning people?"
Lawmakers seem to keep fishing for reasons that kids do not do well in school in Clark County. Why don't they lay the blame where it belongs in most cases? This would be with parents who coddle their kids to the point that they are not capable of living their life with any responsibility for themselves.
The Clark County School District has become no more than the world's biggest babysitting service, thanks to parents and lawmakers who do not have a clue about the real world anymore.
