12-year-old boy killed by taxicab is identified

Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 | 9:39 a.m.

A 12-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a cabdriver as he was riding his bicycle has been identified as Aramis Zsolt Horvath.

Horvath was crossing Jones Boulevard near Tropicana Avenue about 7:10 p.m. Dec. 15 when he failed to yield the right-of-way to a 2002 Mercury. The collision threw the boy and his bike forward, and he was pronounced dead at University Medical Center.

The cabdriver who hit Horvath, Wayne Sowers, 43, of Las Vegas, was not injured.

Police said Horvath was at fault for the collision so Sowers was not charged.
