Woman charged in fatal crash pleads not guilty

Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 | 9:20 a.m.

The woman who ran a stop sign and hit another car with her SUV, killing a 7-year-old girl, pleaded not guilty on Thursday.

Albert Lasso, the lawyer for 57-year-old Sharon Rapstad, entered the plea before Las Vegas Justice of the Peace William Jansen to the misdemeanor traffic charges Rapstad faces for the crash that killed Debbie Blinder.

Rapstad's Chevy Suburban hit the car in which Debbie was a passenger when Rapstad drove through the intersection of Hualapai Way and Desert Inn Road on Sept. 23.

The county has since installed flashing lights at the intersection and is working to put in a stoplight.
