Record passenger count reported for November
Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 | 11:20 a.m.
McCarran International Airport this morning announced record passenger counts in November, as 3.4 million passengers arrived and departed, up 13.5 percent compared with November 2003 totals.
Year-to-date McCarran has reported 38.1 million passengers, up 14.3 percent compared with the 33.3 million counted from January through November 2003.
McCarran Public Affairs Manager Elaine Sanchez credited the power of Las Vegas as a destination and the increasing strength of the city's convention business for the airport's robust numbers.
She noted that the airport reported about 400,000 additional passengers in October and again in November.
"This is typically our slow season," Sanchez said. "Our convention market is a lot stronger, and Las Vegas itself is a destination that people want to come to."
