Letter: Bush’s policies are destructive
Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004 | 8:58 a.m.
I read all of the articles in the Sun about our fallen troops in Iraq. We have lost more than 1,300 of our troops now. I always read each name, and the ages -- 23, 25, 19, 18, 21 ... Nearly always those who died are young, and all because President Bush put us in a war just because he could.
Understanding the toll of Bush's Iraq policy, I must respond to Betty Jean Waite's letter of Dec. 15 headlined, "Bush's policies preserve freedom around the globe." She was criticizing Paul McGuire's letter of Nov. 30, in which he made many good points, including that the Bush administration sinned by starting an unjust war "with thousands and thousands killed or maimed." A word to Waite: Please re-read McGuire's letter and take each word as the gospel.
Bush is now trying to destroy Social Security and he probably will succeed. Before he's through his policies will lead us to wars that will destroy the world. Bush's re-election was a sad mistake for America and the world.
