Dodgers fill out 51s staff

SUN WIRE REPORTS

Roger McDowell will return to Las Vegas in 2005 as the 51s' pitching coach and former 51s batting coach George Hendrick has been promoted to the position of hitting coordinator for the Los Angeles Dodgers' minor-league organization.

Those moves were announced Wednesday by Dodgers director of player development Terry Collins as the team completed its minor-league assignments.

McDowell returns to the 51s to join new manager Jerry Royster's staff. Replacing Hendrick as the team's hitting instructor will be Mariano Duncan, who was promoted from the same job at Double-A Jacksonville.

Hendrick moves up to the organizational level with pitching coordinator Rick Honeycutt and infield coordinator Dave Anderson.

The Dodgers' other minor-league managers will be former 51s boss John Shoemaker at Jacksonville, Scott Little at Single-A Vero Beach, Travis Barbary at Single-A Columbus and, at the two Rookie League franchises, Juan Bustabad at Ogden and Luis Salazar at Gulf Coast.
