Resorts and tourism operations in Las Vegas won seven awards, including a citation as the World's Leading Gambling Destination, in the 11th annual World Travel Awards.
Organizers of the awards, presented earlier this month in Barbados, said 2.5 million travel agents worldwide cast ballots for the awards, which included global categories as well as a breakout of the best tourism facilities by continent.
Las Vegas was the winner of the World's Leading Gambling Destination and the MGM Grand was listed as the World's Leading Casino Resort.
Under North American awards, Las Vegas was named Leading Destination, the Las Vegas Convention Center was listed as the continent's Leading Conference Center and the MGM Grand was listed as North America's Leading Conference Hotel.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority was named North America's Leading Tourist & Convention Bureau and the Elemis Spa at the Aladdin was voted the Leading Spa Resort in the Southwest United States.
Caesars Atlantic City was cited as North America's Leading Casino Resort.
