Letter: Valley is ready for pro baseball

All indications are that Mayor Oscar Goodman represented the Las Vegas Valley well during Major League Baseball's recent annual meetings. Count me among the many Clark County citizens who will definitely support Major League Baseball.
Goodman's assurances to baseball regarding the viability of this county as a professional sports market appear legitimate. While I am not aware of any statistical or feasibility studies on the subject, it certainly seems overwhelmingly likely that pro baseball can and will thrive here if given a chance. We are a larger and economically stronger community than many of the regions in which pro baseball already exists. Our enormous tourism industry only adds to our ability to support a team.
Major League Baseball's owners and executives can only ignore Las Vegas for so long. Eventually the sport's power brokers will realize that this community is growing, maturing and has the economic strength to support a team. Many thanks to Goodman.
