Children invited to Biddy Basketball
Southern Nevada residents are invited to participate in the annual Biddy Basketball leagues of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas.
League play is offered for boys and girls grades second through fifth of varying skill level, including recreational and advanced players. Ten seasonal games and post-season tournaments are included with the registration fee, as well as uniforms and team pictures.
All games will be played Monday through Thursday between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at two locations, Lied Memorial Boys and Girls Club, 2880 S. Robindale Road in Henderson, 614-8550 and at the Lied Memorial Boys and Girls Club, 2850 S. Lindell Road, 368-0317.
The Biddy Basketball Program is designed to offer youngsters the opportunity to take part in an organized sport at an early age. The goal is to teach young children sportsmanship, teamwork and sound basketball fundamentals as well as the joys and disappointments of competition. Volunteer coaches are needed.
Cost for the Lied Memorial League is $70; $100 for the Reynolds League.
Registration deadline is Dec. 31.
Senior center will give flu shots
The Clark County Health District will hold a flu shot clinic 8 a.m.-noon Thursday at the Henderson Senior Center, 27 E. Texas Ave.
The clinic will be expanded to include these groups: 50 years of age and older, day care workers, health care workers, school nurses, emergency medical services workers and household contacts of high-risk individuals.
High-risk individuals who have not received their vaccination are encouraged to do so. This group includes: 65 and older, people with underlying chronic medical conditions, women who will be pregnant during the influenza season, rResidents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities, health-card workers involved in direct patient care, out-of-home care-givers/adult household contacts of children aged six months

Harley owners to deliver gifts
The Southern Nevada Harley Owner's Group annual Children's Christmas Gift Run will be held 11:45 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at 485 Calcaterra Circle, to benefit the residents of the Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada.
Santa Claus will be on his Harley followed by more than 100 Southern Nevada HOG members on their Harleys to deliver gifts and goods to 30 families and more than 40 children.

Red Rock art contest coming up
Entries for the fifth annual Red Rock Art Contest must be received on or before Feb. 17, 2005. The purpose of the contest is to get students to research and become familiar with the desert in which they live.
All plants and animals submitted must be native to the Mojave Desert.
The contest is open to all sixth through 12th grade students.
Any two-dimensional format is acceptable (paint, crayon, chalk, etc.) No photography will be accepted.
Each entry must be labeled on the back with the student's name, contact phone number, grade, school, and instructor and Mojave Facts. Entries missing any part of this information will be disqualified.

A local artist will be chosen to judge entries. Winning entries will be exhibited at the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center. The awards ceremony and reception will be 10-11 a.m. March 12, 2005.
