Property names new GM

Aztar Corp. has named Gary Van Hettinga as the president and general manager of its Tropicana resort in Las Vegas, replacing Hector Mon.

Van Hettinga was recently senior vice president of slot marketing and operations at the Tropicana Resort in Atlantic City and served as chief financial officer there from 1995 to 2001. He began his career as a staff auditor for Arthur Young & Co.

"Gary has helped us reach new heights in overall management of our Atlantic City property," Aztar Corp. President, Resort Operations Dennis Gomes said. "I have worked with Gary very closely during the last nine years and have a great deal of confidence that he will be very successful in his new role."

Mon joined Boyd Gaming Corp. in June as senior vice president of operations, overseeing the company's riverboat casinos in the Midwest and South.
