Letter: Smoking should be banned from all buildings

Monday, Dec. 13, 2004 | 8:53 a.m.

While many people worry about paying increased property taxes, I worry about living long enough to be able to pay them. A five-year study in England showed that there is a significantly increased risk for innocent nonsmokers who are exposed to second-hand smoke of getting lung and heart disease.

Clearly many Nevadans are at risk of getting these diseases through no fault of their own. It's time for our legislators and Gov. Kenny Guinn to ban smoking in all buildings.

Health concerns are more important then economic profits, and people at their workplace, or visiting casinos, should not have to breathe this vile smoke.
