Now that the Kathy Augustine impeachment trial is over, future whistleblowers can rest assured that they will be made to look like the violator. Our esteemed senators saw fit to slap Ms. Augustine's hand with a token censure.
The majority of senators felt she had been punished too much. But as Sen. Dina Titus stated, elected officials should be held to a higher standard. The Senate acted as jurors in the impeachment trial, yet gave pre-conclusion interviews on their feelings about the case to news reporters.
In most trials, jurors are admonished to remain silent about the ongoing case before the conclusion. Is this the higher standard for elected officials? What a waste of my tax dollars to see this historic event turn political. Politics at its worst again!
