SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Betting that casino gambling will be coming to a race track near them soon, Shepherd University officials next spring will offer an introductory course in gaming and are considering making it a separate area of study.
If the program is included in the college's Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, students could learn all facets of the gambling industry, including hospitality, marketing, business and legal issues, said Athletic Director Karl Wolf.
Students could eventually obtain a degree in recreation and leisure studies with an emphasis on gambling.
