Las Vegas rock band the Killers has been nominated for three Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy announced this morning.

The quartet, who released their debut album, "Hot Fuss," in June in the United States, are among finalists for Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal and Best Rock Album.

In the Best Rock Song category, the four Killers -- vocalist/keyboardist Brandon Flowers, bassist Dave Keuning, guitarist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci -- and their hit single "Somebody Told Me" will be pitted against Green Day's "American Idiot," Velvet Revolver's "Fall to Pieces," Modest Mouse's "Float On" and U2's "Vertigo."

For Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Voca,' "Somebody Told Me" is up against Elvis Costello and the Imposters' "Monkey to Man," Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out," Green Day's "American Idiot" and U2's "Vertigo."

And for Best Rock Album, the Killers' "Hot Fuss" will compete with Elvis Costello and the Imposters' "The Delivery Man," Green Day's "American Idiot," Hoobastank's "The Reason" and Velvet Revolver's "Contraband."

Winners will be announced on Feb. 13 at the 47th Grammy Awards ceremony at Los Angeles' Staples Center. The show will be broadcast on CBS, tape delayed in Southern Nevada beginning at 8 p.m.

Flowers, Stoermer and Vannucci are Las Vegas natives who graduated from local high schools and maintain residency in Southern Nevada. Keuning moved to the area from Iowa before founding the Killers with Flowers.

The Killers are scheduled to play at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay on Dec. 30.

Another group with local ties, electronic duo Crystal Method, also received a Grammy nomination today. The pair's latest album, "Legion of Boom" is up for Best Electronic/Dance Album, along with Basement Jaxx's "Kish Kash," Paul Oakenfold's "Creamfields," Prodigy's "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned" and Paul Van Dyk's "Reflections."

Crystal Method members Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland are Las Vegas natives who relocated to Los Angeles.
