CARSON CITY -- The Green Party and the Libertarian Party Thursday withdrew their demands for a recount in the presidential election.
Each party received less than 1 percent of the vote.
The withdrawal came after they were told by the secretary of state's office that the estimated cost of a recount would be $346,207. If the vote outcome changed, they would get the money back. But if the results stayed the same, they would lose their required deposit.
Libertarian Michael Badnarik gained 3,149 votes, or 0.38 percent of those cast, for president, and Green Party candidate David Cobb tallied 837 votes, or 0.10 percent.
President Bush received 414,939 votes to 393,372 for Sen. John Kerry.
