Police investigating fatal stabbing of Vegas couple

Metro Police are investigating if a man and a woman found stabbed to death in an apartment in the west of Las Vegas Valley were murdered or if it was a murder-suicide.
At 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday patrol officers went to an apartment on the 4600 block of West Oakey Boulevard to check on the woman. The woman's parents had called police from California, Lt. Tom Monahan said.
The parents said they were concerned about their daughter after co-workers said she had not been to work, Monahan said. He did not disclose where the woman worked.
Although the coroner has not determined an official cause of death, Monahan said it appeared that both had died of stab wounds.
Regardless of whether or not it is a murder-suicide or a double murder, the bodies of the couple in their 20s were stabbed numerous times, Monahan said.
Neither the man nor the woman have been positively identified, according to the coroners office.
There is a possibility that each of them could have committed suicide separately, but a medical examiner will have to determine the cause, Monahan said.
Officers said they recognized the apartment when they arrived, having been to the residence several times on domestic violence calls, Monahan said.
The bodies appeared to have been in the apartment for more than a day.
The apartment manager gave police a pass key, and when they entered the apartment they found the couple, Monahan said. There was no evidence of prior forced entry.
Neighbors said they knew little about the couple.
Police are still investigating this event, Monahan said.
If anyone has information, they can call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or the Homicide Section at 229-3521.
