Edward L. Clark

Edward L. Clark, 58, of Las Vegas died Nov. 25 in a local care center. He was born March 16, 1946, in New York City. A resident for six years, he was a retired New York City police officer with 30 years of service and Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; one daughter, Michelle Clark of New York City; three sons, Arnold Swan of Chino, Calif., Reggie Swan of Fremont, Calif., and Charles Swan of Oakland, Calif.; his mother, Evelyn Mixon of Las Vegas; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Ruth Helen Fleming

Ruth Helen Fleming, 82, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 4, 1922, in Nebraska. A resident for 55 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Arvin; two sons, Douglas Kilday and Richard Kilday; one daughter Nancy Foster; one brother, Ernie Carey; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Bunkers Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North is handling arrangements.

Doris H. Friedman

Doris H. Friedman, 90, of Las Vegas died Nov. 24 in a local care center. She was born April 27, 1914, in Nebraska. A resident for 45 years, she was a retired schoolteacher.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Lawrence Herman

Lawrence Herman, 76, of Henderson died Nov. 23 in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1928, in New Jersey. A resident for six years, he was in automobile sales and was a retired Marine.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothea.

Edward F. Hughes

Edward F. Hughes, 81, of Bakersfield, Calif., died Nov. 25 in a nursing center. He was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Atlantic City. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a retired Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances; two daughters, Frances Gaylord of Las Vegas and Sharon Hall of Bakersfield; one son, Gerald Hughes of Claremont, Calif.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5485 E. Charleston Blvd. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hines Funeral Home, 2610 E. Lake Mead Blvd. is handling arrangements.

Sharon Adams-Seligman

Sharon Adams-Seligman, 61, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born August 16, 1943, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident for four years, she was an office manager for a government contractor and cut the ribbon to start the first Avon 60-mile walk for Breast Cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Marv; two sons, Michael K. Seligman of Temecula, Calif., and Joe D. Seligman of Manhatten Beach, Calif.; her mother, Winnie Eisenhart of Belleville, Ill.; two sisters, Pam Adams of Smyrna, Ga., and Debbie Hutchinson of Belleville; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be one hour prior to a 3 p.m. service Friday in Palm Chapel. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. is handling arrangements.

Haywood S. Simmons

Haywood S. Simmons, 75, of Las Vegas died Nov. 25 in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1929, in Cameron, Texas. A resident for 10 years, he was a security officer and World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Simmons; three sons, Dwight Simmons and Dwayne Simmons, both of Texas, and Herbert Jones of California; three daughters, Cynthia Simmons of Texas, Jackie Williams of Florida and Felicia Simmons of Pennsylvania; one brother, Ralph Simmons of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mary Scott of Los Angeles and Minnie Mae Booze of Cameron; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 1439 Lawry Ave. Burial will be 9:20 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Blair J. Simpson

Blair J. Simpson, 22, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born July 5, 1982, in Ogden, Utah. A resident for 18 years, he was a maintenence laborer.

He is survived by his parents, Vernon and Constance Simpson of Las Vegas; one sister, Tammy Luebbers of Ogden; three brothers, Brian Simpson of California, Brandon Simpson of Ogden and Billy Joe Simpson of Las Vegas.

Vicki Lynn Smith

Vicki Lynn Smith, 56, of Las Vegas died Nov. 19 in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 4, 1948, in San Francisco. A resident for 15 years, she was a nurse's aid.

She is survived by one son, Scott Smith; one brother Larry Shaughnessy, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Dec. 18 in Palm Chapel. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Joseph Turner

Joseph Turner, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born June 7, 1929, in St. Joseph, La. A resident for 44 years, he was baker in a local hotel.

He is survived by six daughters, Shirley Gray, Velma Turner, Gloria Lynn, Wilma Turner, Sandra Reid and Gail Turner; three sons, Wilbert Turner, Thomas Turner and Terry Turner, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Walter Turner of Las Vegas and Ezart C. Turner of Richmond, Calif.; five sisters, Marie Williams of North Las Vegas, Cena M. Pollard of Daly City, Calif., Karrie Turner of San Bruno, Calif., and Minnie Turner and Ertha Turner, both of Oakland, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Friday at Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in New Light Baptist Church, 1165 Lawry Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
