Zula Mae Alexander

Zula Mae Alexander, 94, of Las Vegas died Thursday in North Las Vegas. A resident for 10 years, she was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Mississippi.

She is survived by one sister, Christine McCreary of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Laura Belmonte

Laura Belmonte, 76, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born Sept. 1, 1927, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A resident for 16 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Claudio Belmonte and Carlos Belmonte; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Forrest Carter

Forrest Carter, 88, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born July 18, 1916, in Lawndale, N.C. A resident for 54 years, he was a retired truck driver for a dairy firm and a World War II and Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi; one son, Lloyd Freeman, and one daughter, Linda Cadier, both of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 30 minutes prior to a 10 a.m. service Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Mary C. Dunaway

Mary C. Dunaway, 80, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Tucumcari, N.M. A resident for 12 years, she retired as an executive secretary from the aerospace industry. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League and ranked a life master. She belonged to several golf clubs including the Alamogordo Country Club in New Mexico, and golf clubs in Las Cruces, N.M., and Picayune, Miss.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Willie; one daughter, Kathy Campbell of Phoenix; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 8 a.m. until an 11 a.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Shirley Nellis Genstel

Shirley Nellis Genstel, 82, of Palm Springs, Calif., died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 19, 1921, in Oakland, Calif. A former Las Vegas resident for 50 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Gary W. Nellis of Henderson; two daughters, Joyce Nellis Cisnero and Andriana Takas, both of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Graveside services will follow at noon Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

The family suggests donations to the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 4800 W. Dewey Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89118.

Fredric Goldstein

Fredric Goldstein, 56, of Henderson died Monday in a local care center. He was born Jan. 19, 1948, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired income tax preparer, a member of the Nevada Society of Enrolled Agents and past treasurer of Shomrim Society and Triboro Bridge and Tunnel Officers.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; one daughter, Melissa Goldstein, and one son, Daniel Goldstein, both of Henderson; and three sisters, Lauren Goldstein of Lake Mohegan, N.Y., Zoe Barshov of Westbury, N.Y., and Sandra Brodsky of Henderson.

Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

Harry E. Green

Harry E. Green, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. An airline computer specialist, he was born June 10, 1927, in New York.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; one son, Danny Millen, and one daughter, Karen Pankow, both of California; four sisters, Lucille Glasheen, Lois DiDuch and Marge Beaudshe, all of New York, and Jane Smith of Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Frank T. Leon

Frank T. Leon, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 30, 1929, in Ray, Ariz. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired porter and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Silguero of Las Vegas; four sons, Frank A. Leon Jr. of LaPuente, Calif., John Bond of Chino, Calif., and Mitchell T. Leon and Jerry A. Leon, both of Las Vegas; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Harold McElrath

Harold McElrath, 69, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Gray County, Texas. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired automobile mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; one son, Chris McElrath of Henderson; and one sister, Eva Woolverton of Grandbury, Texas.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Mary Elizabeth Mills

Mary Elizabeth Mills, 82, of Overland Park, Kan., died Sunday in Overland. She was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Walsenburg, Colo. A former Las Vegas resident, she was a Clark County librarian.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Hoot J.; three daughters, Elaine Louise Mills of Kansas City, Mo., Lori Saar of Carlsbad, Calif., and Katy Crow of Lenexa, Kan.; one brother, Henry D. Gilli of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Nona Perryman

Nona Perryman, 74, of Ely died Thursday. She was born April 12, 1930, in Winslow, Ariz. A Nevada resident for 40 years, she was a businesswoman.

She is survived by four daughters, Virginia Johnson and Andrea Bainbridge, both of Ely, Christine Alarcon of Henderson and Susan Chapman of Corona, Calif.; and 15 grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at noon today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

William Edward Reed

William Edward Reed, 69, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Lackawanna, N.Y. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired warehouseman.

He is survived by his wife, Luz C.; one son, Ryan Tinsley of Edmonton, Alberta; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. until a 1 p.m. service Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

James A. Roan

James A. Roan, 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Bowling Green, Mo. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired machinist in the aerospace industry, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by two brothers, Fred Roan of Parker, Ariz., and John Roan of McKenzie Bridge, Ore.

Carol Ann Smith-Steffen-Walker

Carol Ann Smith-Steffen-Walker, 46, of Las Vegas died Aug. 13. She was born July 15, 1958, in California. A resident for years, she was employed by the Las Vegas Country Club and McCarran International Airport and was a 1975 high school graduate.

She is survived by two daughters, Brandy Marie Steffen of Portland, Ore., and Angela Nichole Walker of Las Vegas; her mother, Marilyn McDonald of LaPine, Ore.; her father, Alfred V. Smith of King City, Ore.. five sisters, Diane McCully, Sheila Smith, Teresa Durbin, Mary Troutman and Christina Eddy; and one brother, Thomas M. Smith.

A private memorial service was held in Las Vegas and another is pending in Lincoln City, Ore. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, handled arrangements.

Christine E. Spittell

Christine E. Spittell, 47, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 14, 1956, in Encino, Calif. A resident for 16 years, she was a hotel auditor.

She is survived by her husband, Ross; two daughters, Natalie Spittell and Lillian Spittell, and one sister, Gail Paulucci, all of Henderson; and one brother, Leonard LeMar of Oxnard, Calif.

Alice Helen Tavares

Alice Helen Tavares, 83, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1921, in Bloomberg, Texas. A resident for two years, she was a hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by one sister, Ann M. Dunn of Las Vegas.

Robert James Wettour

Robert James Wettour, 77, of Kearney, Neb., died Saturday in Nebraska. He was born Feb. 23, 1927, in Chicago. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a welder in the sheet metal industry and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Converse of Greenwood, Ind.; one sister, June Milczney of Illinois; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Bunkers Chapel. Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
