Letter: Bush doesn’t deserve support for re-election

WEEKEND EDITION
August 28 - 29, 2004
I hope every senior citizen saw the recent "60 Minutes" segment where President Bush cheerfully signed away our rights to negotiate prices with drug companies, making our country the only one in the world that operates this way. The drug companies have paid billions to lobbyists to keep us in an open stranglehold and the president has now signed their position into law.
Any senior who thinks President Bush has our welfare at heart is deluding himself. How any senior could even think of voting for Bush is totally beyond me. He has lied to us about Yucca Mountain. He has lied to us about weapons of mass destruction. His paltry tax deductions are just that, paltry. No Child Left Behind? The act is all words, with hardly any funding. Yet he's touting all these programs.
Now he's worried about what John Kerry did during the Vietnam War. What in heck has that got to do with what we've got to do now?
