Fall watering restrictions go into effect Wednesday

It's time to pull out those sprinkler system owner manuals.
Fall watering restrictions for Las Vegas Valley and Boulder City go into effect Wednesday -- cutting the number of days that lawns are allowed to be watered with sprinklers. Only three days of watering a week will be allowed.
Water customers throughout the county should have received, or will soon receive, notice of what days they are allowed to water their lawns, local government officials said. Those caught with their sprinklers working on days they are not allowed could face fines of at least $25 per violation.
In case a customer missed the notices sent telling them which watering schedule they should follow, the Southern Nevada Water Authority Web site at www.snwa.com offers a way to search by address by clicking on the "find your watering group." Information is also available at 258-7283.
Under the rules that kick in Wednesday, those in groups A, C, and E are to water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Those in groups B, D, and F are to water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Henderson residents can also find out when they are allowed to water their lawns by searching for their address on the the city of Henderson Web site at www.cityofhenderson.com.
In North Las Vegas, water customers' schedules are based on the last number in their street address, with odd-numbered addresses allowed to water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and even-numbered addresses allowed to water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Fines for breaking the rules start at $25 for residential customers, and double with each subsequent violation topping out at $400.
Summertime lawn-watering restrictions allow watering daily, but prohibit watering between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. That time restriction remains in effect until Oct. 1.
Watering with a hose by hand will continue to be allowed at any time on any day.
Also, drip irrigation is allowed on any day of the week, but cannot be on more than three days a week.
