Camp would help Scouts

WEEKEND EDITION
August 28 - 29, 2004
A local Boy Scout master writes on behalf of several members of his troop whose parents cannot afford to send them to camp.
One brother has been in the troop for three years, making it to First Class and as a member of the varsity team, and the other for six months, earning the rank of Tenderfoot.
Two First-Class members have shown improvement in school as well as in Scouting, the leader says.
One has been a member of the troop for a year and is a Second Class, and one relatively new member has attained the rank of Tenderfoot.
"With attendance at summer camp," the leader writes, the Scouts all "will surely continue to rise quickly through the ranks of Scouting."
The Sun Camp Fund provides scholarships to send children to camp when their families cannot afford to. All donations go directly to the cost of camp; administrative expenses are paid by the Las Vegas Sun.
