Wheels for Safe Nest show planned
The Las Vegas Corvettes Club and Bill Heard Chevrolet are looking for entrants for the inaugural Wheels for Safe Nest and Shine Car Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bill Heard Chevrolet, 444 S. Decatur Blvd.
The cost of entry is $25 and all proceeds go to support Safe Nest, a local domestic violence agency.
All makes and models are invited to participate: foreign, domestic, classics, hot rods, sports cars, etc. Prizes will be awarded for the top entries in each club and the people will choose "Best in Show."
The show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food and drinks will be available and entertainment will be provided by Time Machine.

Fingerprinting of kids scheduled
Court TV and Lysol will bring digital fingerprinting trucks to Southern Nevada in order to provide free digital fingerprinting to children.
Parents will receive a free 8-by-10 ID printout of their children that includes a digital photo, fingerprints and personal information such as height, weight and hair color.
The digital fingerprinting tour will be held at these locations:
Friday: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday at 830 Boulder Highway, Henderson.
Sunday: 9 a.m. to noon, 10616 S. Eastern Ave., Henderson; 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., 55 S. Valley Verde Drive, Henderson.
Monday: 9 a.m. to noon, 1000 N. Green Valley Parkway, Henderson; 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., 4600 E. Sunset Road, Henderson.
Aug. 31: 9 a.m. to noon, 450 N. Nellis Blvd.; 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., 3850 E. Flamingo Road.
Sept. 1: 9 a.m. to noon, 2385 E. Windmill Lane; 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., 9750 S. Maryland Parkway.
Back to School Fair at Galleria
Cox Communication is teaming with the Galleria at Sunset mall to help local students and their parents gear up for the school year during a Back to School Fair that will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Galleria, 1300 Sunset Road.
The event will include information about local zoning, transportation and immunization requirements. Cox Communizations will give away rulers, book covers and pens and provide information on its free Cable in the Classroom and GoalGetters programs.

Las Vegas Councilman Steve Wolfson
invites residents to attend a neighborhood meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Walter Jacobson Elementary School, 8400 Boseck Drive. The meeting will give residents of Ward 2 the opportunity to discuss ideas and concerns with their new council member in person. For more information, call 229-6582.
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.,
will address issues in the areas of health care, education and the upcoming election to the members of the Urban Chamber of Commerce at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Palace Station.The luncheon is $25. Call 648-6222.
The eighth annual Charity Golf Tournament
will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Aliante Golf Club, 3100 W. Elkhorn, North Las Vegas, to benefit the New- start Home for Unwed Mothers. Pre-registration is $100 per player; $150 the day of the tournament. To register or for more information, call 242-9850.
Libby Goldstein has been named
by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Las Vegas Sun as manager of the Newspapers in Education program in the Clark County School District. As manager, Goldstein will be responsible for working with teachers, develope curriculum and teaching tools, and provide newspapers to students. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Goldstein was a previous donor services and program associate at the Nevada Community Foundation and a teacher at the Marin Jewish Community Center in San Rafael, Calif.
