Meetings to address concerns about housing plane at Nellis

Nellis Air Force Base is scheduled to be one of the homes for one of the military's newest weapon systems, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
According to today's Federal Register a total of 36 of the approximately $100 million aircraft are expected to be at Nellis by 2028. The planes will arrive in phases beginning in 2009.
The Air Force will hold public meetings next month on the environmental impacts of housing the planes at Nellis.
Each of the meetings is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The meetings are to be conducted at five locations around the state. The dates and locations are:
The F-35 is a family of three multi-role aircraft designed to replace other aircraft in the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and the British military. The Air Force's F-35A version of the craft is expected to replace the F-16 Falcon and A-10 Thunderbolt II.
