School Board District E

Incumbent Denise Brodsky faces three challengers for the Clark County School Board's District E seat.

Frank Albano, who spent 20 years teaching in three states and is retired, is making his first bid for public office. Albano, 62, also writes for the Las Vegas Tribune, a local publication.

Albano said he has spent the past few months familiarizing himself with district operations and has met with administrators, teachers and parent groups.

First elected in 2000, Brodsky is past executive director of the Nevada Tobacco Prevention Coalition and a longtime community volunteer. Brodsky, 45, has also served as School Board clerk and vice president.

The father of two, mortgage broker Ryan Devins has become a regular -- and vocal -- critic of both the School Board and district operations.

Les Pierres Streater, 47, writes for the Las Vegas Sentinel Voice, a local publication serving the black community. He has been a candidate for San Diego's school board and ran for Connecticut representative.
