The Henderson City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved pay raises and increased payments toward employee health insurance for two city employee union groups that together represent about 150 of the city's 1,500 employees.
The contracts were with two Teamsters bargaining units, one that represents secretaries and other clerical staff, and another that represents supervisors and managers below the department head level.
The contract gives those employees a 1 percent raise retroactive to last July 1; a 3.75 percent raise next year; a 3.9 percent raise in July 2006; and a 4 percent raise in July 2007.
City payments for insurance costs, now $460 a month, will go to $585 a month in July 2005; $648 in July 2006; $725 in July 2007; and $813 in July 2008, according to city documents.
The contracts were voted on as part of the council's consent agenda, in which a long list of items considered routine are voted on with a single vote.
