Enron hearing delayed
Friday, Aug. 13, 2004 | 10:47 a.m.
A confrontation between Nevada Power Co. and Enron Corp. that was scheduled for today in U.S. District Court in New York was scuttled when the judge missed court because of illness.
The hearing is expected to be rescheduled.
Nevada Power and Sierra Pacific Power Co. of Reno are fighting a motion by Enron that seeks to block an appeal to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The Nevada companies want reconsideration of previous court and regulatory rulings requiring more than $336 million in termination payments to Enron for contracts signed and later cancelled amid the Western energy crisis of 2000-01.
