Letter: Christian values forced on nation
Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004 | 9:03 a.m.
As we near Election Day, the question has to be asked: Is the nation better off now than it was four years ago?
It's not only the continuing high unemployment rate, or the huge deficits the Bush administration has brought us. The real problem is the divisiveness of the American people as President Bush seeks to impose his Christian values on the nation.
We see him opposing birth control devices and a woman's right to choose, curtailing stem-cell research, castigating gays and censoring our entertainment. All of these have caused a real rift among Americans, just at a time when we should be working together to fight our real enemies, the terrorists.
Do we really want a religious-style government for the next four years? It really has become a case of anybody but George W. Bush.
