Police involved in struggle identified

The two Metro Police officers involved in a Monday struggle after which a 47-year-old man died have been identified as Patrick Denny, 31, and Mark Hutchinson, 26, a police spokesman said.

Denny has been with the department since February 2001 and Hutchinson joined the department in August 2001. Both work out of Metro's Southeast Area Command.

The officers are on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of a coroner's inquest.

They were called to a home near Flamingo and Sandhill roads Monday because Keith Tucker was allegedly behaving in a violent and erratic manner, the spokesman said. When the officers arrived, they said Tucker kicked and punched them. The officers said they used their batons then a Taser gun to subdue him. Tucker died about an hour later.

Tucker's cause of death has not yet been determined.
