Because of the hot weather, most anglers have been fishing in the early morning hours and then heading home by mid-morning. Those who have tried their luck during the past week have found some action, but the fishing for striped and largemouth bass has been only fair.
Anglers have told the Nevada Department of Wildlife that they have been catching stripers that range from 1 to 3 pounds in the center channel from the 33 Hole to Government Wash to Boxcar Cove. The fish are hitting a variety of top water lures and jigs.
There has been sporadic success for stripers at Hemenway Fishing Point and fairly consistent action at the tires at Lake Mead Marina.
A boater who was fishing around Cottonwood Cove over the weekend said he caught a large number of 12-inch stripers by trolling with a chrome Kastmaster.
