Public can comment on lake fire plan

The National Park Service is asking the public to comment on a fire management plan for the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and part of the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument.

The ultimate goal of fire management in the area is to restore fire to the park through wildland fire use and prescribed fires.

The environmental assessment considers management and protection objectives of both wildland fires and other treatments during a 10-year period.

The 30-day public review ends Sept. 3.

The document is available on the Lake Mean National Recreation Area Web site at http://www.nps.gov/lame/docs.html.

All review comments should be addressed to: Superintendent, Attention: Fire Management Plan EA, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City, NV 89005.
