Carol W. Allison

Carol W. Allison, 52, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 13, 1952, in California. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker and a member of Animal Rescue Advocates.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Upton; one nephew, Tommy McKay; and two nieces, Allison Shahan and Michelle McKay.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.

Marie Benningfield

Marie Benningfield, 88, of Boulder City died Friday in Boulder City. She was born Oct. 9, 1915, in Kentucky. A resident for 2 1/2 months, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Judy Sondergaard of Boulder City; two sons, Ed Benningfield of Higerstown, Md., and Daniel Benningfield of Somerset, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

'Libby' Blakeman

Elizabeth "Libby" Blakeman, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 2, 1926, in Illiopolis, Ill. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired bank vice president.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; one son, Dave Blakeman of Las Vegas; two daughters, Patricia Weakley of Las Vegas and Sandra Hammond of Henderson; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Marian Bowers

Marian Bowers, 85, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born April 30, 1919, in Illinois. A resident for 30 years, she was a retired registered nurse and worked as a change girl in several local casinos.

She is survived by one son, Larry Bowers of California; one daughter, Kay Coco of Las Vegas; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Antoinette DeVincinzo

Antoinette DeVincinzo, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 19, 1930, in Rochester, N.Y. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired Sears department store customer service representative.

She is survived by her husband, August; three daughters, Felicia Powell, Michelle Rohrman and Teresa Bustamante; one son, Nicholas DeVincinzo; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lillian Echt

Lillian Echt, 79, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. She was born April 8, 1925, in London. A resident for 13 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard; one son, Wayne Echt, and two daughters, Joan Rose and Renee Echt, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Hettie Soraff of London and Rene Raffel of Miami; one brother, John Rubenstein of London; and one grandchild.

Alice Ann Englebright

Alice Ann Englebright, 74, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local health care center. A homemaker, she was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Evansville, Ind.

She is survived by four daughters, Cheryl Collins of Mount Vernon, Ind., and Linda Rancati, Rita Graves and Gina Shamp, all of Las Vegas; two sons, Larry W. Freels of LaMirada, Calif., and Gary L. Freels of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Lois A. Harrison

Lois A. Harrison, 93, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born May 17, 1911, in Blanket, Texas. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Lillian McElroy of Tracy, Calif.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. Tuesday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. A graveside service will follow at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Patricia M. Large

Patricia M. Large, 62, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 27, 1942, in Terre Haute, Ind. A resident for eight years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, William R. Sr.; three sons, William R. Large Jr. of Castro Valley, Calif., Robert Large of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and Donald Large of Henderson; one sister, Mary of Terre Haute; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Bryon Henrie Leavitt

Bryon Henrie Leavitt, 33, of Henderson died Friday in Henderson. He was born May 9, 1971, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident of Southern Nevada, he was an auto body technician.

He is survived by three daughters, Kaylin Leavitt, Breeann Leavitt and Savanah Leavitt, and one son, Chance Leavitt, all of Lehi, Utah; his parents, Clayton and Nyla Henrie Leavitt of Henderson; three brothers, James Lamond and Jeffrey Leavitt, both of Highland, Utah, and Rick Leavitt of Henderson; and three sisters, April Dyer of Henderson, Robyn Windhorst of Las Vegas and Emma Nassi of San Diego.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Tuesday in the LDS Church, 2497 Cozy Hill, Henderson. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

John A. Lynch Jr.

John A. Lynch Jr., 83, of Henderson died Sunday. He was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Beverly, Mass. A resident for 10 years, he was a mayor of East Port, Maine, for more than 20 years, a postal worker for 10 years, and a recipient of many medals and awards during his 22 1/2 years of service as a Naval Reserves veteran and an Army veteran.

He is survived by two sisters, Ann Wall and Beverly Reagen; and two brothers, Robert and Fred.

Visitation will be one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Tuesday at Green Valley Lutheran Church, 1799 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Wayne Nielsen

Wayne Nielsen, 63, of Las Vegas died Saturday. He was born Jan. 10, 1941, in Sutherland, Iowa. A resident for 19 years, he was a bus driver, a Korean War Army veteran and past president of the Southern Nevada Horseshoers Association.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Nielsen; and one brother, Bob Neilsen.

He is survived by one son, Eric Neilsen of Panaca; and one brother, Dutch Nielsen of Spencer, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Dorothy Virginia Sargent

Dorothy Virginia Sargent, 83, of Henderson died Thursday in Henderson. She was born July 13, 1921, in Alberta. A resident of six months, she was a retired quality controller for a phone book publisher.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Pam Heldt of Henderson and Michael Coughran of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Arthur M. Smeltzer Jr.

Arthur M. Smeltzer Jr., 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Pennsylvania. A near lifelong resident, he was a retired iron worker, a member of Iron Worker's Union Local 433 and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, June; four sons, Rex, Peter, Jimmy and Guy; two daughters, Sharon Smeltzer and Debbie Hernandez; one brother, John Smeltzer; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11:20 a.m. Aug. 9 in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Mary Jane Catherine Wiltse

Mary Jane Catherine Wiltse, 75, of Henderson died Thursday. She was born Dec. 2, 1928, in Chicago. She was a medical receptionist, a member and employee of the American Red Cross and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Toosley; and 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one son, Warren Toosley of Alsip, Ill.; two daughters, Kat Dannefel of Las Vegas and Theresa Richards of Henderson; her ex-husband, Cliff Wiltse of Las Vegas; one brother, Thomas Ambrose of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be 6 p.m. Wednesday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul the Apostle Orthodox Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
