Letter: Kerry-Edwards is optimistic ticket
Monday, Aug. 2, 2004 | 8:51 a.m.
For awhile I questioned if the Democratic Party had anyone who could beat President Bush, but the Democratic National Convention assured me that the Democrats are sure contenders.
How can you not vote for John Kerry? His optimistic speech, sprinkled with semi-subtle jabs to express the separation of views, was brilliant. There is no place for politically motivated negativity when you're talking about keeping America strong and great, especially in a time of fear and uncertainty.
The Kerry-Edwards ticket shows a much needed renewal for the future of the United States in our post-9/11 world. The candidates value all human beings regardless of faith, race, etc. They do not seek to separate us, but do seek to unite us all as Americans. John Kerry is a war hero. How can his detractors say that he would not be able to lead a war on terrorism? Someone who has defended this country as a leader of troops in combat can certainly defend her as president.
It is definitely time for a fresh, optimistic change in leadership. Vote for Kerry and Edwards, candidates who believe in freedom for all of us.
