HONOLULU -- A Honolulu travel agency that operates charter flights to Las Vegas said it will halt operations and make refunds to more than 10,000 customers.
Jackie's Tour made the announcement Tuesday after the carrier it uses, World Airways Inc., said it is owed $2.3 million and will not provide air service for Jackie's customers after May 7.
The tour company was unable to explain why it fell behind in payments to World Airways, except to say there is a discrepancy in the amount owed.
"We kind of got caught off guard," said Jason Kine, director of sales and marketing for the tour agency. "We are suspending flights indefinitely until this gets resolved."
The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs said it will investigate the agency.
World Airways began providing charter service for Jackie's on Oct. 8. Jackie's has three charter flights a week to Las Vegas on a 336-passenger MD-11 jet.
