Letter: Gasoline deal wouldn’t surprise

The whole business concerning the possibility of President Bush making secret deals with the Saudi royal family is sickening. But, given this president's track record of supporting special interests, it does not surprise me in the least.
The cost of gasoline has continued to rise on a daily to weekly basis. And the rises are not simply a penny or two, they are, at times up to 10 cents or more a gallon. Yet, when we hear there is gas price relief on the way, we see maybe a one- or two-penny drop at a time.
If President Bush can make deals with OPEC nations to lower gas prices, why isn't he doing it now, while Americans face record prices at the pump, instead of using that influence to manipulate the election?
My concern all along has been why there has not been more discussion at the highest levels of government about why the prices are rising and what we, the superpower, gas-guzzling nation that we are, can do about it.
If the Woodward book is true, then there is no question that this president needs to be fired. To manipulate and deceive the American people on a daily basis, while we fork out more and more of our "tax breaks" toward gas prices, is not only obscene, it should raise the question of possible impeachment.
