Shriners to rely on onions' appeal

Zelzah Shriners will hold their annual Vidalia onions sale starting Thursday at the Shrine Center, 2222 W. Mesquite Ave.

The onions will be available at the Shrine Center from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Vidalia onions are sweeter than apples and don't bring tears to the eyes.

Although the onions will be sold in a 10-pound bag for $10, you may ask for a half bag (five pounds) for $6.

All proceeds will go to the Zelzah Shrine's special units.

Arts fair scheduled at Sun City Summerlin

Sun City Summerlin's second annual Spring Arts and Crafts fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Desert Vista Community Center, 10360 Sun City Blvd.

The Spring event will feature more than 90 vendors, displaying items such as quilts, jewelry, seasonal decorations, crafts made from wood, ceramic, glass and much more.

Workshop planned on carpal tunnel

The Henderson Multi-Generation Center will host a free workshop on wrist pain and carpal tunnel syndrome from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the center, 250 Green Valley Parkway, Henderson.

The workshop will give information about treatment choices, causes and effects, and how mistakes are often made.

Speakers include Dr. Ford Franklin and Dr. Olivia Purdie. For reservations, call 267-5800.

Israel celebration set at Bellagio

The Jewish Community Center will host "Israel Independence Day 2004," a festival to celebrate Israel's 56th year of statehood from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Bellagio's Grand Ballroom.

The festival offers a blend of Israeli and American cultures presenting more than 100 vendor and organizational booths, including Israeli artisans and merchants and their wares direct from Jerusalem's Ben Yehuda Street; refreshments, Israeli singing and dancing, a children's "fun zone" filled with games and arts and crafts activities.
