The new veterans health care facilities planned for Clark County will be designed by a joint venture pairing national architectural firm RTKL Associates Inc. with JMA Architecture Studio, the largest architectural firm in Nevada, the Veteran Affairs Southern Nevada Health Care System announced Friday.
A VA commission has proposed building a 120-bed nursing home and an outpatient clinic as part of its Capital Asset Realignment for Enhanced Services, or CARES.
That report did not back a new 81-bed veterans hospital, but Nevada's congressional delegations said Secretary Anthony Principi assured them that the hospital also will be built. That program is re-evaluating the entire health care system for veterans.
Once the CARES process is complete and the scope of the project is defined, the VA will finalize a contract with the firm, according to the department.
