Letter: Bush’s leadership has failed country
Friday, April 23, 2004 | 8:51 a.m.
In his April 15 letter, Lee S. Gliddon Jr. wrote that John Kerry hasn't the spine to be president. I guess he thinks that Bush does. If so, does that take into consideration that it was Bush, who, using his father's influence, managed to keep out of harm's way during the Vietnam War?
John Kerry went to Vietnam and served admirably. What John Kerry did took courage, spine, guts -- whatever you want to call it. He answered the call. Where was George W.?
Also, since Bush became president, more than 3 million jobs have been lost -- not a sign of leadership there. He bungled the good economy given to him by President Clinton and turned it into the most massive deficit this country has ever seen by giving huge tax cuts to those who need them the least. For the president to constantly say the tax cuts were good takes chutzpah to a level never before seen in an American president. Gliddon mentioned untruths -- well, can he spell WMD?
Furthermore, there have been nearly 700 military deaths and thousands more wounded in Iraq, when our president should have been trying to find al-Qaida. And Bush continues to try to connect Iraq to 9-11 when there is no connection. Bush isn't qualified to be president, so I say give him his walking papers.
