NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Good fishing for striped bass and channel catfish was found over the weekend in the Overton Arm while action has been below par in the Boulder Basin.
Boaters who were fishing near the tires at Lake Mead Marina Sunday night reported good success for stripers.
Stripers that weigh 1-2 pounds have been coming from Stewart's Point and Fish Island in the Overton Arm. Boaters are drifting and trolling with anchovies to catch the fish.
Channel catfish are being caught above Overton Beach Marina and at Stewart's Point. Anchovies are taking the catfish as well as occasional stripers.
Very little fishing activity has been seen in the Boulder Basin in recent days, possibly the result of windy weather. Shore fishing has been slow.
LAKE MOHAVE: Very good fishing was found over the weekend at Cottonwood Cove as Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) creel census clerks checked nearly 200 striped bass that weighed from a half pound to 2 pounds.
Boaters who are drifting with have found most of the action for stripers using anchovies just beyond the narrows above Cottonwood. Some fish are being caught around Owl's Point as well. Largemouth bass fishing has also been hot in the Cottonwood area. Anglers are finding success fishing with tube lures and jig and pig baits.
WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA: Rainy and very breezy weather continued to make fishing conditions difficult. Daniel Maes, assistant area supervisor, said that fishing pressure was heavy but the success rate was low. Some anglers were successful as they landed a few rainbow trout that ranged 13-15 inches. PowerBait and worms were the baits of choice.
EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR: Windy and rainy weather continued to make fishing difficult. The few anglers who fished landed a few rainbow trout that averaged 9 inches in length.
ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR: A weather front dominated the area this past week and impacted the fishing pressure. The few anglers who fished were successful landing both rainbow trout and crappie.
