CARSON CITY -- Two affiliated companies that cover close to 60,000 vehicles in Nevada have asked state Insurance Commissioner Alice Molasky-Arman for permission to slightly decrease rates.
United Services Automobile Association, which writes polices for 36,000 vehicles, is proposing a 3.5 percent decrease to be effective Aug. 31.
The firm, that collects $33 million annually in premiums, last changed rates with a 0.2 percent increase in March this year.
USAA Casualty Insurance is proposing a 2.7 percent decline for the 23,000 vehicles it covers, also to be effective Aug. 31. The firm last month raised rates by 0.2 percent and it receives about $23 million in premiums a year from Nevada motorists.
