New Medicare rules explained
The Families USA Medicare Road Show comes to Las Vegas Friday to answer residents' questions about new Medicare laws.
The show begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Cora Coleman Senior Center at 2000 Bonnie Lane, near Lamb and Lake Mead boulevards.
Families USA, a non-governmental health care advocacy group, is bringing its road show to 20 cities across the country to help consumers understand the Medicare system and its future.
Clay guild plans benefit auction
The fourth annual Nevada Clay Guild Empty Bowl benefit and auction will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Green Valley High School, 460 Arroyo Grande Blvd., Henderson.
Tickets are $12; $10 for children and may be purchased at the door. All proceeds from the event will benefit food programs feeding the poor and homeless in Southern Nevada.

Guatemalan art will be on display
A reception to celebrate Art without Borders, an exhibition of 18 Guatemalan contemporary painters, will be held today at 5:30 p.m. at the Nevada State Museum in Lorenzi Park.
The event features a talk by Carlos Roberto Calderon, president of the American Immigrant Foundation of Los Angeles, on the artists and their work.

Seminar to study Red Rock Canyon
The North Las Vegas Library District along with the Red Rock Interpretive Association is offering the seminar "Exploring Red Rock II, Flora and Fauna," an introduction and orientation to Red Rock Canyon from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Topics will include facts about nature appreciation in the Red Rock area. The instructor will bring photos, and animal and plant samples from the area for discussion. The seminar will be taught by naturalist Linda Nations of the Red Rock Interpretive Association.

Representatives of spiritual teacher
Sant Thakar Singh will offer a free three-hour course on Inner Light and Sound meditation at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd. The program consists of a one-hour talk followed by two hours of instruction. For more information, call 877-6334.
